Where Mission Meets Experience
The Roman Torres Foundation exists to create real opportunities for youth who deserve more than their circumstances. Founded by Panamanian footballer and World Cup hero Román Torres, the foundation is rooted in his own story — one of perseverance, discipline, faith, and community. Our mission is to empower young people through free soccer programs, mentorship, education, and family support. Because no child should have to fight alone for a better future.

La Fundación Román Torres existe para crear oportunidades reales para jóvenes que merecen más que lo que sus circunstancias les ofrecen. Fundada por el futbolista panameño y héroe de la Copa del Mundo, Román Torres, la fundación nace de su propia historia: una historia de perseverancia, disciplina, fe y comunidad. Nuestra misión es empoderar a los jóvenes a través de programas gratuitos de fútbol, mentoría, educación y apoyo familiar. Porque ningún niño debería tener que luchar solo por un mejor futuro.

From Barrio Lindo to the World Stage
Román grew up in Barrio Lindo, one of the most overlooked and underserved neighborhoods in Panama City. From a young age, his life was shaped by hardship, but also by honesty, faith, and family. He spent his early years fishing with his father and selling the catch to help make ends meet. Soccer wasn’t just a game — it was his outlet, his education, and eventually, his way forward.

Román creció en Barrio Lindo, una de las zonas más olvidadas y humildes de la Ciudad de Panamá. Desde pequeño, su vida estuvo marcada por la necesidad, pero también por la fe, el trabajo honesto y la familia. Pasaba sus días pescando con su padre y vendiendo el pescado para ayudar en casa. El fútbol no era solo un juego. Era su escape, su escuela y, con el tiempo, su camino hacia adelante.

Our Mission
The Roman Torres Foundation uplifts youth from vulnerable communities by creating real pathways through soccer, mentorship, and education. Inspired by Roman’s own journey—from hardship to the world stage—we provide safe spaces, consistent support, and values-based programs that help young people build discipline, faith, confidence, and leadership on and off the field.
